Detective Sergeant Nick Bauer (retired) brings more than 30 years of service with the Seattle Police Department to Code 4 Northwest. His career included assignments across patrol, precinct investigations, the Major Crimes Task Force, federal task forces, undercover operations, homicide investigations, robbery, and narcotics. He also served on the Force Investigations Team, which handled officer-involved shootings.
Throughout his career, Nick was involved in high-risk and critical incidents, including lethal force situations. He is a recipient of the Medal of Valor, along with multiple departmental recognitions for excellence, impact, and service.
Nick’s work with Code 4 Northwest is grounded in his own experience navigating critical incident stress. As a founding member and current Operations Director, he plays a central role in supporting first responders through peer support leadership, crisis response, and training. He established a Lethal Incident Response Team within his department’s peer support structure and has more than 15 years of experience leading peer support efforts.
In addition to his operational work, Nick provides training on peer support, wellness, use-of-force investigations, and critical incident stress management. He also contributes to broader awareness efforts through media appearances and podcast discussions focused on first responder mental health and access to care.
